| Exponaval 2008  The Defense Minister and Commander in Chief of the Navy presided over the launch event for VI EXPONAVAL 2008, one of the most important trade fairs in the region for Naval Defense and Maritime Industry. Exponaval 2008, the VI Exhibition and International Conference of Naval and Maritime Defense for Latin America, is the most important meeting point for its field in the region, a position which has been consolidated with its successive events with the participation of a growing number of professional worldwide visitors from foreign navies and companies of related industries.More than 50 foreign navies are invited to its next event and it will count on a programmed of activities of a high standard, highlights of which include, in the maritime field, the international conference "Global risks and Maritime Protection", and in the naval field, "The impact of Maritime Protection on Global Commerce"; meetings between visiting delegations of foreign navies and the companies present; social events which allow for a more extended contact, all of which make Exponaval an exhibition which will bring together all those who are linked to the naval world; and exercises which demonstrate operational capacity, carried out by personnel from special forces and combat units. Between 2 and 5 December 2008, technologies, services, machinery, surveillance systems, navigation, communications and engineering systems, combat, command and control, equipment for marine infantry and special operations, among other products, will all be on display in Viña del Mar.
