| The HKTDC Hong Kong Optical Fair The HKTDC Hong Kong Optical Fair has become one of the most important trade events in Asia for the fast-growing optical industry. The fair's 16th edition will be held from 6-8 November 2008 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. More than 500 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions will display their latest products at the fair. Major local as well as overseas exhibitors have already confirmed their participation, including Elegance Optical Mfy. Ltd. and Arts Optical Company Ltd from Hong Kong, LINDBERG from Denmark, MiNiMA from France, Ferdinand Menrad Gmbh&Co.KG from Germany, GIORGIO FEDON AND FIGLI SPA and Intercast Europe SRL from Italy, Neo Vision Co., Ltd from Korea, Mormaii/Vila Luxembourg from Spain Mikron Machining Technology from Switzerland, and many more. Exhibitor response to the 2007 fair was highly enthusiastic. Elena Faoro, organisation manager of Fedon Far East, Giorgio Fedon And Figli Spa from Italy, said, "This is our third year at the fair. It's been a good way for us to get new customers and expand our business in Asia." Yasuka Miyakawa, senior general manager, Asia headquarters, Hoya Corporation, Japan, also found the fair an effective trading platform. "This event is one of the three truly international optical fairs in the world, and it is the only international fair in Asia. It attracts potential customers in the region. It is also a good opportunity for us to learn who is doing what by seeing what other exhibitors are doing and to see what the trends are." Although Hong Kong's spectacle companies are facing keen competition from their counterparts in nearby regions, Hong Kong is still the perfect place for the fair, as the city is the biggest exporter of spectacles and frames in Asia – and the second largest in the world, after Italy. As design, innovation and quality are the important elements of popular eyewear, the fair continues to feature Visionaries of Style - Enjoy Your Vision in Life Section, offering elite international eyewear brands an eye-catching setting in which to display the style which has made them famous. The Retail & Shop Design, Equipment and Technology Section will also return in the 2008 fair. It will continue to expand and provide a wide range of products and services. This specialised section highlights many important aspects of successful retailing to help build up new retail establishments and to enhance existing ones. Major exhibits will include display, furniture & fixtures, promotions & packaging, security equipment & services, design & construction, illuminations, lighting technology & accessories, point of sales (POS) equipment & technology as well as communications & IT. In addition to the products on display, the fair will host the very reputable and popular Hong Kong Optometric Conference, which gives the optometric community a forum to discuss the most important and pressing ophthalmic issues of the day. Seven veteran speakers from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore and UK are invited to share their insights on ophthalmic issues such as contact lenses, lasers and Orthokeratology. The conference will be held on the second day of the fair (7 November). The 10th Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition has proven to be an effective way for young designers to display their talent and creativity. This year, the competition's theme is "Style of Vision". About 130 entries were received for the competition, which shows that design plays an increasingly important role in the industry. The winning entries will be on display at Hall 1 concourse during the fair period. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Exhibition News :: home page |
