AARP Sponsors International Transportation eventм

AARP is a bronze-level sponsor of the 15th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems. "By 2025, people age 60+ will make up a quarter of the American population, " says Elinor Ginzler, AARP senior vice president for livable communities. "AARP is delighted to be sponsoring the ITS World Congress because technology will be key to enabling the generation raised in carpools to continue to go where they want, when they want and in safety. " Scheduled for November 16-20 in New York, the world congress event is the largest ITS gathering this year, with more than 10,000 professionals from the international transportation, technology, and business communities expected to attend. AARP's Ginzler will speak as part of a panel on "Meeting the future Mobility Needs of an Aging Population, " an afternoon session on Monday, November 17.

"Having an organization such as AARP as a sponsor is an asset to the event as we work to educate the public on the many benefits of ITS, " says Scott Belcher, president and CEO of ITS America, a co-sponsor of the congress. "AARP members will benefit from advances in driver-focused technology, public transportation, and traveler information both now and in the future."
