| ElectronicAsia 2008  A comprehensive range of electronic parts and components will be on display at electronicAsia 2008, scheduled for 13-16 October. Around 550 exhibitors from around the world will show parts, components, assemblies and related manufacturing services at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and MMI-Munich International Trade Fairs Pte Ltd, the 12th edition of electronicAsia is recognised as the region's major sourcing platform for electronics parts and components. Exhibits range from general semiconductors, embedded systems, sensors, interconnection technology to power suppliers, manufacturing equipment and logistics for semiconductors and components and much more.A special feature of the fair is the Hall of Fame, a dedicated zone for top-of-the-range brand names and stylish products, showcased in a handsome setting. Exhibitors, including Philips Electronics Hong Kong Limited – Light Factory, S.I.SV.EL. (Hong Kong) Limited and Surface Mount Technology (Holdings) Limited, will display both finished components and parts which are known for using the highest quality materials and the most innovative design. The diversity of choice in electronicAsia draws professional buyers from around the globe. Claudio Ballet, Imports Manager of BELLET C.J. Components, visited the fair in 2007. He thought it was well worthwhile to travel some 40 hours from Argentina. "This is my fifth consecutive year visiting electronicAsia. I am amazed by the innovations of exhibitors and the new designs in the Hall of Fame. I've already made orders on 15 products with existing suppliers and found some interesting items such as switches and modems from seven new suppliers, " said Ballet. electronicAsia 2007 attracted more than 34, 000 buyers from 143 countries and regions. Another highlight is the World of Display Technology, a special section for advanced display components and assemblies. The rapid development of new technologies, fruitful technology collaborations, intensive research, technical improvements and expanding production capacity have all made this field one of the most dynamic and exciting in electronics. The World of Display Technology delivers the newest inventions and is fertile ground for business development in next-generation display technologies. Also in the spotlight is the Hong Kong Metal Parts and Components Pavilion, organised by the Hong Kong Metals Manufacturers' Association. Members of the association will showcase top-quality parts and components manufactured by Hong Kong suppliers. Hong Kong's total exports of parts & components of electronic products reached HK$507.14 billion (US$65.02 billion) in the first half of 2008, which is a 9.8% increase over the same period last year. This optimistic trend will surely contribute to the success of the fair. electronicAsia is held concurrently with the HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), Asia's largest electronics fair and the second largest in the world.
