Autumn Fair With Forecast Revenue Up By Six Percent

The revenue from this year's Autumn Fair is expected to grow by 6 percent compared with last year's edition, according to the statement of Mr. Georgi Gergov, Executive Director of International Fair Plovdiv at a press conference. The earnings from AUTUMN 2007 amounted to nearly 17 million BGN.

The rise in revenue is mostly resulting from the new added outdoor exhibition space of over 50,000 sq. m constructed for the 64th International Technical Fair, which is to take place on 29 September – 4 October 2008. On the whole, the occupied exhibition area is up by 13 percent, while the outdoor exhibition area is increased by 25% compared to 2007. This shows that, in spite of the crisis in Europe and the US, businesses are determined not to slow down the development rate.

3,078 companies from 45 countries are to participate in the Autumn Fair 2008, which is one of the major business forums for investment goods and technologies in Southeastern Europe. A record-breaking number of new products totalling 211 will be displayed at the fair, 46 of them are world novelties.

"This is another trade fair to demonstrate categorically that Bulgaria's economic development is very good", commented the Executive Director of IFP, Mr. Georgi Gergov. This has been proven by the new products to be exhibited, which comply with the EU standards. The exhibition area rented by the Bulgarian distributing companies has grown by 30% due to the rising demand for products and services in the sectors of construction, machine building, power engineering, ecology, chemical industry, electronics and electrical engineering, automobile transport.

"The Italian business circles consider Bulgaria and the counties in the Balkan region as most suitable for investment in the following years", said Mr. Fabrizio Camastra, Director of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade in Sofia (ICE), which organizes the participation of Italy as Partner Country of the Autumn Fair 2008. "We will help Bulgaria to catch up faster with the European Union, " added Mr. Camastra and explained that the participation of Italian companies in this year's International Technical Fair registered a rise of 20%. The Day of Italy at the 64th International Technical Fair is scheduled on September 30, 2008.

Forty-two foreign associations, exhibition organizers, ministries and institutions are going to take part in the business forum incited by the interest of the foreign companies to cooperate with Bulgarian companies, launch joint projects, and set up new business networks.

The Business Events Programme within the duration of the ITF 2008 comprises over 90 events, including conferences and seminars on the absorption of EU funds, business matchmaking events, presentations, etc.

"This year's Motor Show Plovdiv will feature over 250 motor car models and 13 car premieres", announced Mr. Stoyan Zhelev, Chairman of the Association of Car Manufacturers and Their Authorized Representatives for Bulgaria, the co-organizer of the event. The Motor Show is one of the most attractive exhibitions within the framework of the Autumn Fair. The traditional prize for visitors will be given again this year – a car to be chosen from seven car brands and a trip for two to Greece. Visitors to the Motor Show Plovdiv have to complete a questionnaire card to take part in the prize draw. "We have been working in partnership with International Fair Plovdiv for seven years now and the fact that the show has expanded from 4,000 to over 14,000 sq. m is a good proof for its success", pointed out Mr. Stoyan Zhelev

"At the Autumn Fair 2008, we are going to see a somewhat different way of doing business – more open not only to what is happening in the domestic market, but also in other regions", commented Mr. Ivan Sokolov, General Director of International Fair Plovdiv, on the new generation of innovations oriented towards protecting environment and human health to be exhibited at the fair.
