Fifth Annual Wired Nextfest Set To Open In Chicago On September 27

The fifth annual WIRED NextFest begins September 27 and runs through October 12, in Chicago's Millennium Park. WIRED NextFest is the premier showcase of global innovations that are transforming our world and include unique and bold exhibits of sustainable design, next generation healthcare, interactive art and games, humanoid robotics, and more. These 40 curated exhibits are the groundbreaking work of international visionaries who offer an inspiring glimpse of tomorrow. The event is free and open-to-the-public in Chicago's magnificent Millennium Park.

"We're excited to present this year's NextFest as a high-concept global showcase with a fresh and modern approach, " said Chris Mitchell, VP and publisher of WIRED and Wired.com. "With a longer, two week duration to experience these unique exhibits, we look forward to returning to Chicago and bringing WIRED's discoveries of unprecedented innovation to readers and visitors who share in this experience."

Attendees of WIRED NextFest will have the chance to see exhibits such as: Cell Phone Disco, Toyota's i-REAL personal mobility concept vehicle, EA Sport Hoops Kiosk, Xerox Erasable Paper, Humancar, EveryBlock, and many more.

WIRED NextFest 2008 is slated to begin with an opening ceremony and event on Thursday, September 25, 2008 followed by a media day on Friday, September 26, 2008. WIRED NextFest will be free and open to the public for two weeks, from September 27, 2008 through October 12, 2008 daily, from 11am to 7pm, Thursday, from noon to 8pm, and closed Monday.
