| Kazakh Oil and Gas Exhibition Breaks All Records KIOGE is the exhibition and conference for the Caspian region and Central Asia that attracts the energy companies as well as producers of equipment and technology in the oil and gas sector. The trade fair focuses on exploration technology, offshore technology, drilling technology, pipelines and equipment, oil and gas transportation systems, process engineering and refinery technology. This year's 16th KIOGE will take place on 07-10 October 2008 at the Atakent exhibition centre in Almaty. Official support for the event is provided once again by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and national oil & gas company KazMunaiGas JSC. Traditionally, the event is also be supported by various national stands, among others from Germany. Since 1993, the KIOGE exhibition and conference has been reflecting growing interest in the Kazakh national oil and gas sector. The exhibition grew by 10 %, and last year, Almaty hosted the largest ever edition of KIOGE with 585 companies from 30 countries, using a total space of 11,300 sqm net and showcasing their latest products and services to more than 10, 100 visitors (over 9, 900 trade visitors). A newly built pavilion allowed the exhibition to expand further. KIOGE 2007 again had a German Pavilion with 34 German companies, and also Canada, China, France, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Turkey had national joint stands. The two day conference held alongside the exhibition took place on 02-04 October 2007 in the Hotel Intercontinental "Ankara". It brought together speakers and a very knowledgeable audience and the issues covered included the development of Kazakhstan's oil and gas fields, investment opportunities, transportation routes and environment protection. The Kazakh economy has been growing steadily since 1999 with growth rates of more than 8 %. The economic success of the country is basically based on the profits from the oil and gas industry. Kazakhstan has developed into a hugely significant country in the global oil and gas industry, and the country will strengthen this sector in the next years even more, increasing investments can be expected.
