| POWTECH/TechnoPharm 2008 The exhibition duo POWTECH/TechnoPharm sets international standards: The 700 companies expected at POWTECH from 30 September to 2 October show key technologies for the manufacture, preparation and processing of powders, bulk solids and granules. Some 300 exhibitors are expected at TechnoPharm, the high-tech exhibition for innovations in process technologies for pharma, food and cosmetics. "We expect over 1,000 exhibitors from almost 30 countries at this year's POWTECH and TechnoPharm duo, " says Claudia Hauser, Exhibition Manager at NürnbergMesse. A lot is offered again in 2008, and not only in the exhibition halls. The supporting programme also provides information about the technologies that determine the future of the industries. "The complete spectrum of products and services for mechanical processing technologies and particle analysis is in store for visitors at POWTECH 2008, plus the sound knowledge of experts from all parts of the world, " explains Claudia Hauser. "The exhibitors at the leading trade fair for mechanical processing technologies and instrumentation offer a complete, finely structured spectrum of products from pioneering technologies for processing powder, granules and bulk solids." TechnoPharm with its focus on process technologies in pharma, food and cosmetics complements POWTECH ideally. The successful exhibition duo promises numerous synergies for the expected 16,000 trade visitors, also due to its highly topical supporting programme. Claudia Hauser advises all visitors: "Use the opportunity to source information about the latest trends in the industries in intensive dialogue with the experts at POWTECH/TechnoPharm 2008." Avoiding explosions, making processes safe DEKRA EXAM and the Knowledge Forum of the Verband Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) organize the first "International Symposium for Process and Explosion Protection" at the POWTECH/TechnoPharm 2008 on 30 September und 1 October. Here the experts and practical specialists in industrial safety and explosion protection meet to present the latest findings. The symposium discusses issues like current developments in safety concepts, explosion engineering, applied research and electrical explosion protection and plant control. Experts from nine countries present altogether 22 lectures; the conference language is English. On the day before, 29 September, a pre-workshop takes place to provide help on specific questions and proposed practical solutions to meet the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Registration and programme at: www.vdi.de/explosion Explosive issues at POWTECH 2008 Industrial safety and explosion protection are currently more topical than ever in the powder and bulk solids processing industry and in process technologies for the pharma, food and cosmetics sectors. So it is obvious that POWTECH/TechnoPharm 2008 as leading exhibition duo offers a platform for these key issues. The daily dust explosions in the exhibition centre park impressively demonstrate the potential hazard. The future of plant engineering in the pharma and chemical industries The present change processes in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries pose great challenges for plant operators and planners and suppliers of plant components. The driving forces are the changed general conditions and the pressure to cut costs, hence process optimization. This influences plant design and engineering. These issues are examined by well-known experts during the symposium entitled "The Future of Plant Engineering: Pharma and Chemicals" on 1-2 October 2008. The event organized jointly by the magazines "CHEMIE TECHNIK / Pharma+Food" published by Hüthig Verlag and the International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology (APV) deals with the general conditions and trends in plant engineering and their effects on the supply industry. More information at: www.chemietechnik.de/symposium/ Analysing and improving process chains The second event organized by APV, the honorary sponsor of TechnoPharm, is the seminar on "Practical Value Chain Analysis and Optimization". The event on 30 September and 1 October 2008 shows how a factory can be changed with pencil and paper and the large values recovered by a "holistic approach". Value chain optimization is a method that can be used to improve whole process chains. Simple and comprehensible tools are offered for the analysis, which the participants can use direct in their own companies after the seminar. More information at: www.apv-mainz.de The Innovation Award at POWTECH/TechnoPharm Awards will be presented again in 2008 to the most innovative plant and processes in the categories of basic processing technologies, plant engineering and processing components, material analysis and characterization/instrumentation, and pharmaceutical technology. All exhibitors at POWTECH/TechnoPharm can enter their innovations. An expert jury of editors from the magazines "PROCESS", "PharmaTEC" and "Schüttgut" will examine the entry papers submitted and select the most promising products. The award focuses on the outstanding advantages and unique selling points of a new development. The presentation takes place on 30 September 2008, the first day of the exhibitions, during a ceremony at the Exhibitors Forum. More information at: www.process.vogel.de/award/ Nanotechnology live At least one of the dimensions of length, width and height of the structures, molecular materials and systems that scientists devote their attention to in nanotechnology is smaller than 100 nanometres. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research presents the new "nanoTruck" at POWTECH/TechnoPharm 2008. Behind the name is a new information campaign under the motto of "nanoTruck – high-tech from the nanocosmos". A rolling exhibition and communication centre that presents nanotechnology live at two levels and brings the theory from the scientists' laboratories straight to the people.
