Composites Europe Continues Steady Growth

In a few weeks' time Composites Europe 2008 will open with a new record number of exhibitors. 270 international exhibitors have already registered for the third international trade fair for fibre-reinforced composite materials which will be held from 23 to 25 September in Essen. With this number, Composites Europe has already substantially exceeded its previous 2007 record of 200 exhibitors. Furthermore, the exhibition area will be twice that of the previous event. This year's Composites Europe will again be held in parallel with ALUMINIUM 2008, the biggest fair of the international aluminium industry. Both fairs together are the biggest platform for lightweight materials.

In Halls 10, 11 and 12 of the Essen Exhibition Centre companies will present more than 3.000 products from the entire value creation chain of fibre-reinforced plastics. The range will cover raw materials, semi-finished, finished and intermediate products through to technologies and services. Among the large number of new exhibitors who registered in the last few days are major representatives from the entire value creation chain: NRW.Kunststoff (an association of plastics manufacturers and research institutes in North Rhine-Westphalia), the German Aerospace Centre (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt – DLR ), Atom MB, Well Diamant-Drahtsägen or CREST COMPOSITES from India.

Composites Europe will showcase the dynamic development of the composites materials market and present current trends. Among these are the extension of the CRP segment and of natural fibre reinforced plastics. The 6th N-FibreBase Congress, to be held as part of the AVK Annual Convention which will be held parallel to the fair, provides information about the "green materials" as alternatives for conventional materials.

While the N-FibreBase Congress is held in conjunction with Composites Europe for the first time, the international AVK Convention, taking place from 22 September onwards, will mark the beginning of the trade fair for the third time already. "The combination of an expert convention with the fair provides the best possible opportunity for a concentrated and efficient exchange of experience in the composites market and for making new contacts", says AVK Managing Director Dr. Elmar Witten. Next to the European industry association EuCIA and the international trade journal Reinforced Plastics, the German industry association AVK is one of the cooperation partners of Composites Europe.

Special presentation on the topic "Hybrid Materials"
With the combination of different classes of materials, hybrid material systems offer an increase in performance, functions and applications when compared to homogenous structures. On this topic, Composites Europe will feature the special presentation "Hybrid Materials" this year, ranging from metal to ceramics composite plastics such as those presented, for example, by Ceramdis from Switzerland.
