Post Show Reports on 2008: GIFTEX/Design Tokyo 2008

Welcoming record breaking of 369 exhibitors and 55,297 visitors, third edition of International Variety-Gift Expo Tokyo (GIFTEX) and Design Accents Expo Tokyo (Design Tokyo 2008) concluded with a great success alongside with the concurrent fairs. Exhibitors this year doubled from that of last year, and the show venue was filled with a buzz. There were many business discussions seen here and there and every exhibitor as well as visitor was amazed and satisfied of its crowd and serious atmosphere to have business. Also, great number of press members was seen all across the show venue making interviews and reports to the exhibitors and their innovative and cutting-edge design products.

By doubling in size, this bigger fair with precise zoning had an immense impact on the visitors for their easy access to the products they are looking for. GIFTEX organising 8 zones such as wazakka (Japanese modern houseware) & craft goods, games & puzzles, toys & character goods, dining, floral goods, fragrance & aroma, bath & beauty, fashion accessories, and Design Tokyo 2008 with 6 special collection such as fashion accents, wazakka, tableware, interior accents, kitchenware and design electronics. Visitors to these areas expressed their satisfaction of the line-ups of the stylish, voguish and lavish products addressed to their needs.

Design Accents area caught an enormous attention with the designs yet to be seen in Japan from the buyers and the media. There were audio from Germany which was used inside the Hollywood movie which will be on screen next year, glassware covered with titanium, luxurious accessories that are famous among the actress and singers in Hollywood and Europe and many other savvy products from the design houses around the world.

Networking party exclusively held for Design Tokyo/GIFTEX 2008 overseas exhibitors and buyers was held on the second night, July 10 (Thur) from 18:30- after the show. 239 people attended this party and serious business talks were held all over the place. It was the first time ever for Show Management to organise the networking party like this and it concluded with a great success. Some of the exhibitors said that they have been exhibiting at various shows around the world but never attended the party like this. Bilingual staffs from Show Management all gathered to this party help to network the exhibitors to the buyers, and satisfaction of all the attendees was very high.
