Launch Of Intersicop 2010

The Managing Director of IFEMA, Fermín Lucas, and the President of the Federation of Confectionery, Bakery and Related Industries (FICOP), Ramón Montlleó, signed the renewal of the agreement between the two bodies last 28th May at Feria de Madrid. With this agreement, both bodies commit themselves to staging the ninth edition of the International Bakery, Confectionery and Related Industries Fair, INTERSICOP 2010, which will take place between 20th and 24th February 2010 in Halls 1, 3, 5 and 7 at the IFEMA fairground. The ceremony was also witnessed by the Director of INTERSICOP, Alfonso de Borbón and the Manager of FICOP, Mario Cañizal.

This ceremony, which marked the renewal of the collaboration agreement between IFEMA, in its capacity as the organiser of the event, and the industry's federation, establishes a series of dates for the campaign relating to INTERSICOP 2010, although the preparations really began at the end of the last edition, which took place at Feria de Madrid between 10th and 14th March 2007, achieving some unprecedented commercial results.

In effect, INTERSICOP '07 featured the attendance of some 293 exhibiting companies and occupied a net exhibition area measuring 26, 051 square metres. The fair welcomed 36, 323 trade visitors. These figures confirm the solid progress that this fair has made and testify to the fact that the decision made by FICOP and the industry to continue staging the event in Madrid is the right one, based as it is on the guarantee of IFEMA's considerable trade fair know-how.

With this background and based on the excellent business response that the fair's organisers have been witnessing, the next edition of INTERSICOP in 2010 is shaping up to be highly promising. This event will be strengthened with a packed programme of trade meetings and coinciding activities, which bring an inestimable added-valued dimension to the fair.

The preparations for these conferences, as in the case of all the preparations for INTERSICOP, feature the support of the Federation of Bread and Confectionery Supply Company Associations, FICOP, which is deeply involved in all aspects of an edition that will make an especially significant effort to promote its international dimension. In fact, INTERSICOP has been rising up the European fair rankings for some years now, as witnessed in the year 2007 when it featured the participation of some 55 direct foreign exhibitors from 11 countries and welcomed some 2, 730 foreign professionals from 62 different countries, which represented growth of 8% compared to the previous edition in the year 2003.

This fair competes with IBA in Germany and Europain in France for first place in the European rankings regarding the events that are staged for this industry.

The fair will once again present the most innovative profile of a highly competitive industry, based on its extensive range of produce, machinery, trade equipment for sale outlets, accessories for the bakery and pastry trades, frozen dough products, ovens, refrigerated means of transport, computer equipment, franchises ...

The task of ensuring a strong level of business participation in the different segments represented at the fair corresponds to the leading association within the field, FICOP. Thus, the Federation is able to mobilise the members of all the different guilds that come under its aegis: Association of Machinery, Oven and Equipment Manufacturers for the Bakery, Confectionery and Related Industries, AFESPAN; Spanish Association of Frozen Dough Manufacturers, ASEMAC; Association of Manufacturers of Raw Materials and Enhancers for the Bakery, Pastry and Ice-Cream Industries, ASPRIME; European Association for Bakery Equipment, EBEMA, and Spanish Association of High-Range Elaborated Products, Specialities and Accessories for the Bakery, Confectionery and Ice Cream Sectors, PROVEA.

Finally, we might also highlight the collaboration with INTERSICOP of the Spanish Confederation of Bakery Organizations CEOPAN; the Spanish Confederation of Pastry Artisans, CEAAP, and the Association of Pizza Artisans, ARTEPIZZA.
