Asia's largest ever lighting industry fair and its partner event for the electrical building technology industry takes place at the Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Centre, 8 – 11 June 2008. The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition and Electrical Building Technology Guangzhou bring together a total of 1, 636 suppliers and manufacturers from 22 countries and regions in 110,000sqm of exhibition space. Exhibitor numbers for Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition have risen 25 per cent to 1,539 compared to last year. This further acknowledges the fair as Asia Pacific's largest forum and sourcing platform for buyers looking for lighting products, fixtures and components.

The number of halls for this year's Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition has increased to a record-breaking 10 halls in 106,000 sqm, an increase of 30 per cent. To facilitate large visitor flows to the halls, the fair will be staged on two levels.

This year has also seen a strong demand by exhibitors wanting to showcase their products in the Brand Name Halls resulting in an increase from two to three halls. Both international and domestic companies know that exhibiting in the Brand Names Halls is a respected and successful way of showing their quality products in the global market. Exhibitors include the world's leading lighting names in the lighting industry such as Osram, Philips, Samsung and Thorn Lighting.

Making its debut at Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition is the first ever theme hall for LED products. This follows on from one of last year's themes of "green lighting and energy efficiency".

Electrical Building Technology Guangzhou runs alongside the lighting fair and is an important meeting place and sourcing platform for architects, designers, engineers, developers and contractors from all over Asia. This year 97 exhibitors from six countries and regions are presenting their high-quality industrial and commercial building technology and products. Altogether the total exhibition space for Electrical Building Technology Guangzhou is 4,000 sqm.

Guangzhou International Lighting Technology Symposium. This year's theme is "Master Planning, Design, Implementation and Management of Urban Lighting." Some of the world's most reputable experts will take part in the symposium from 8-10 June. Topics include architecture and interior lighting, cost management of lighting, landscape lighting, LED technology, and master planning and management of urban lighting. The symposium is co-organised by Guangzhou Yang Guang Lighting Service Co., Ltd., and supported by the China Illuminating Engineering Society.

Electrical Building Technology Symposium, held in conjunction with Building Electricity Magazine Agency will take place on 8 June. China Lighting and Electrical Appliances Contest. This exciting new event is open to all exhibitors and there are three main award categories; Exterior Lighting, Interior Lighting and Electrical Lighting. The public and organisers of the contest will vote to determine the winners.

The Third Lighting Award Presentation Ceremony & Colloquium. This is the only Government-authorised lighting design award in China and is organised by the China Illuminating Engineering Society. At this event on 8 June, Chinese engineers and designers will also share their insights about China's developing lighting industry.

The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition is part of the architecture and technology fairs of Messe Frankfurt, headed by the biennial Light+Building event in Frankfurt. The Guangzhou show is organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt and supported by many prestigious lighting industry organisations.
