Thai-Brunei Joint Exhibition in Bangkok

Brunei and Thailand have organised a four-day joint exhibition programme on cooperation in information and broadcasting, in Bangkok. A part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Sultanate and the Kingdom of Thailand, it is taking place at the Government Public Relations Department, Auditorium SOI Areesamphan, Phanonyothin Road, Bangkok.

The guest of honour, Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Ismail bin Pengiran Haji Mohamed, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister Office, will be officiating the exhibition, "Thailand and Brunei Darussalam: Only One Earth Care and Share, on the theme "Global Warming".

Environmental issues, especially global warming has become a major global concern. Therefore there is a need for Brunei Darussalam and Thailand to share the task of educating the public through various awareness programmes initiated by the government and non-governmental agencies of both countries, the release said.

The exhibition's part one showcases the Brunei Darussalam - Thailand MoU on Cooperation in information and broadcasting and a Brunei Darussalam - Thailand joint musical variety show.

Part two focuses on the theme and shows the initiatives and involvement of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family towards protecting the environment, government policies, projects and activities carried out by government agencies such as energy division of the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and Ministry of Communication; the involvement of non-government agencies such as Brunei Shell Petroleum Company and The Standard Chartered Bank; and the community's participation in an effort to save the environment.

The three-day exhibition is hoped to raise public awareness on environmental issues and problems and possible solutions to save the earth from the effects of global warming. The exhibition is handled by the Department of Information, Prime Minister Office and the Thailand's Public Relations Department.
