Rootsians Organise Captivating Art Exhibition

Roots Thematic Montessori held its "Annual Arts Exhibition 2008" in a trendy style here at its Khadim Hussain Road Branch, which was graced by Mrs Rabia Khalid of NCA as the chief guest.

The event themed "Mein Bhi Pakistan Hoon Tu Bhi Pakistan Hai" had the whole branch artistically converted into a microcosm of Pakistan, generating tremendous excitement and interest among the toddlers who were dressed up in regional costumes.

To enhance the event's theme, an impressive art gallery was formed to catch the glimpses of Pakistan's heritage with the Indus Valley civilisation being the first to unveil its secrets, followed by the spread of Islam in the region, the Mughal era, the British rule and finally the Independence Movement that led to the creation of Pakistan in 1947.

A puppet dance representing the four provinces was also represented while moving ahead was a colourful portrayal of all provinces with the customs and lifestyles of the people effectively depicted. The young children gave impressive presentations with confidence that gave an insight into their creative abilities at this young age.

A kite shop, 'kehwa khana', 'susi' shop along with a 'khaddi' (loom) and brass shops were also displayed. Children showed their feelings and passion for the country by a dance performance on a song reflecting the message of unity, love, peace and harmony. A beautifully crafted booklet containing basic facts and figures on Pakistan was also distributed amongst the visitors.

Branch Head Mrs Sobia Aleem lauded the creative efforts of her teachers and staff in making the event a big success. She said the basic purpose of the activity with the chosen theme was to create awareness and promote our cultural heritage and give the message of 'unity in diversity.'
