The National Competition For The Creation Of A Sustainable Garden

With a view to promoting the design, creation and improvement of green areas, SAVER, the Equipment and Machinery Fair for Parks, Gardens, Forests and Other Green-Belt Areas, which is due to take place between 9th and 11th October, will stage the First National Competition for the Creation of a Sustainable Garden, in collaboration with the Spanish Landscape Gardeners Association (AEP-IJAP). The evaluation criteria shall focus essentially on the originality, simplicity and feasibility of each project, based on the effective use of water and energy resources.

Entries for this edition of the competition may be submitted up until 8th September 2008 by all professionals who design green areas, whether they are members of AEP or not. Each participant shall present, on his own or as part of a team, a proposal that creates a temporary and sustainable garden measuring approximately 50m2, within a special area set aside at the fair.

Participants shall present their proposals on DIN A-2 panels, alongside a descriptive report of the corresponding project. The report shall include detailed plans of the irrigation and lighting facilities, as well as computer images, images of models and plantation plans. In devising their projects, participants in the competition shall not exceed a budget of 6,000 euros.

The Jury shall consist of members chosen jointly by SAVER and AEP and the Jury's decision regarding the winners shall be announced on 12th September 2008 at a public event. The Jury's decision shall be final, even in cases in which awards are left unallocated.

The winning project shall be carried out by SAVER-IFEMA under the direction of its authors, who shall have the period of between 15th and 22nd September 2008 in order to incorporate all of the aspects that they consider necessary in order to implement the proposal adequately. Furthermore, all of the projects that are accepted shall be exhibited throughout the course of the fair and shall feature in a publication created specifically for this event.
