| International Apparel Machinery Trade Show Leveraging on its world-class facilities and infrastructure, JASMA is pleased to announce the 9th presentation of International Apparel Machinery Trade Show, JIAM 2008 will be held in Singapore for the 1st time outside Japan from 13-16 May 2008. A triennial show, JIAM was organized by the Japan Sewing Machinery Manufacturers Association (JASMA) and made its first appearance in 1984 in Nagoya, Japan to meet and support the needs of the world's users in the apparel industry, as well as its member companies. Building on its track record over 24 years, JIAM has evolved into one of the world's top 3 major apparel machinery trade fairs, ranking alongside IMB in Germany and SPESA EXPO in the U.S. Themed "The Gateway to Advancing Technology from JIAM to the World", the 4-day event will showcase the latest and most advanced machinery and equipment from the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers, demonstrating highly innovative and cutting-edge technology that provide solutions for the apparel and textile industry. On display will be a comprehensive array of apparel machinery, systems and solutions used in the planning/design, to cutting/spreading, sewing, embroidery/printing, as well as finishing, inspecting, handling and packing. Distribution/logistics services and IT system for the apparel industry will also be featured at JIAM 2008. Following the elimination of the export quotas coupled with the significant shift of manufacturing activities to meet the challenges of the competitive global market place, Asia alone accounts for more than 70% of the global production. JASMA has selected Singapore to host JIAM 2008, with the confidence that the island's airline connectivity, dynamic business environment and cosmopolitan lifestyle will be most ideal to attract the buyers from the region, in particular, South East Asia and south Asia. JIAM 2008 will serve as an essential bridge that links between the Asian exporters to the global apparel market. JIAM 2005 was a resounding success in Osaka, Japan and a gross area of 24, 930sqm with 285 international exhibitors from 19 countries. JIAM 2008 is poised for a better showing with 30, 000sqm. JIAM 2008 will be held in Singapore Expo, Halls 2-4 from 13-16 May 2008.
