Hair Expo 2008

Hair Expo 2008 will be an explosive weekend of inspiration, creativity, passion, education and community. The event will be held in Sydney's Convention and Exhibition Centre over the Queens Birthday weekend, from Saturday 7th to Monday 9th June 2008.

The event will deliver to a national and international audience the 3 'EEEs' – a world-class Exhibition, Education and Events program held over three action-packed days and nights. The gala events include Saturday's spectacular opening night featuring appearances by Australian and international talent, Sunday night's "Generation Next" with the industry's rising stars and Monday night's 23rd Annual Hair Expo Hairdressing Awards including the Australian Hairdresser of the Year, the 'Oscars' ceremony of the salon industry.

Leveraging their unique expertise as the world's events organiser and owner of UK-based sister show Salon International – the number #1 hairdressing industry event – Reed Exhibitions will bring the education component of Hair Expo to a whole new dimension, with two days of unprecedented educational seminars focusing on cut and colour, styling and business sessions with the best talent from Australia and overseas.

"We are bringing the Hair Expo brand to another level, with a more mature approach and sophisticated artistic direction, " says Hair Expo Event Manager Ann-Maree Mason. "This year, we really want to bring to life the hairdressing & fashion crossover, delivering more of an experiential event through our seminars, workshops and gala nights."

As part of this re-branding, Hair Expo 2008 will unveil a brand new visual identity, including a new logo and a new creative featuring the work of 2007 Australian Hairdresser of the Year Caterina DiBiase, from Melbourne's Heading Out Hair & Beauty Salon. "Australia has amazing creative talent, " adds Mason, "and Hair Expo is strongly committed to supporting them and putting Australian hairdressing on the global map. With this in mind, we've decided that all our future creative campaigns would feature the work of each year's Australian Hairdresser of the Year."

Many other new initiatives will be implemented in 2008, with an improved exhibition floor, a "Platinum Lounge" for VIPs, carry bags for all visitors, a "Hair Expo Live Stage" in the exhibition hall, a new visitor identification process to collect more data and a new "Salon Business Arena" to help salon owners build a more profitable business.

The event will be supported by an integrated marketing campaign comprising of national and international advertising, direct marketing, synergies with Salon International UK, a revamped website with regular information updates, advertorial in Australian, New Zealand and South East Asian media and a stronger, year-round PR campaign managed by newly appointed agency Spin Communications.
