The largest international trade event for optical discs (CD, DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray), the Media-tech Expo, will once more take place in Frankfurt from May 6 to 8, 2008, in Hall 5.0 of the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre.
Following a period of collaboration with Sony DADC, Oerlikon Balzers Coatings and Singulus Technologies, as well as Anwell Precision Technologies, are in the final phases of production testing and have plans to demonstrate working machines at the show. This will give the event's international visitors a unique opportunity to witness realtime BD manufacturing.
With increasing market demand for BD50, it is vital to increase the manufacturing base of the format. The availability of these new production systems marks the move away from Sony's exclusive manufacture of BD50, and allows other manufacturers into this sector of the market.
With its greater capacity for high definition video and Dolby Surround Sound, along with multiple language tracks and an even greater selection of bonus material, BD50 is set to be the media of choice for the Hollywood studios and the international movie industry.
