AMI - The Important Automobile Show

From 5 to 13 April 2008 the AMI - the most important automobile show of the year for Germany and Central Europe - anticipates some 500 exhibitors, including 50 car brands with over 100 model premieres. The show management also expects to see growth in the range of offers for transporters / light utility vehicles and spare parts and accessories.

The Motor Show for Central Europe AMI is adding a further quality highlight to its broad range: beginning in 2008, customisation and refinement will be the focus of increasing attention at the show. Wolfgang Marzin, Chairman of the Board of Management at Leipziger Messe GmbH: "Recognising market trends and incorporating them into our programme is our task as a trade fair company. Consequently, from 2008 we are responding to the growing demand for customised vehicles and their associated products by offering them a broad stage on which to appear - in the interest of both exhibitors and visitors." In particular, the motor vehicle industry is to be presented with an opportunity to display its ever-increasing range of special editions, sporting accessories, equipment and other customisation options in Leipzig. Hans H. Demant, Chairman of the Board of Management at Adam Opel GmbH, welcomes the additional approach at the AMI: "Leipzig offers optimal conditions for the themes of customisation and refinement."

Leipzig's fair boss also emphasises: "In 2008 the AMI is raising its profile as a central platform for alternative drive configurations and environmentally friendly automobile technologies." Examples of this are the planned, comprehensive collective presentations on the themes of natural gas and liquefied gas and the AMI fuel saving training, the aim of which is to raise awareness of cost and environmental consciousness amongst drivers.

2008 sees the AMI present itself as a customer friendly and buyer oriented event once again: "The AMI is not a cool, distant technology show, it is more of an emotional encounter, with the objective to generate sustainable buying incentives for new cars, transporters or practical accessories", is how Project Director Matthias Kober describes the concept of the show. Numerous opportunities to take part and test will also be offered once again in 2008, under the motto AMI Aktiv. A central aspect remains the extensive range of test drive opportunities on offer, where Kober expects to see over 20 participating brands with over 100 test models. 21, 000 fair visitors took advantage of this unique offer at the AMI 2007. A total of around 290, 000 visitors are expected to attend the AMI in Leipzig.
Closing date for exhibitors is 15 September 2007.

The alliance of the automobile show AMI with the AMITEC trade fair for vehicle parts, workshops and service is both unique selling proposition and location benefit at the same time. In 2008 the AMITEC will be staged from 5 to 9 April. "In association with the AMI Motor Show for Central Europe, no other European show offers the specialist a similar opportunity to view the latest models of well-known manufacturers and obtain information about innovations and services in the fields of passenger car and commercial vehicle components, maintenance, care and repairs all under one roof. ", stresses Wolfgang Marzin. Purchases and investments are increasingly being prepared at the AMITEC, or performed there directly. For example, at the AMITEC 2007 72.5 percent of trade visitors were directly involved in investment and procurement decisions, with a further 21 percent in a consulting role.

The most important product ranges offered at the AMITEC are vehicle components, workshop equipment, vehicle care and service. The range is rounded off with the addition of high quality presentations and trade events in the Congress Center Leipzig and the Trade Forums in Hall 2. "One significant advantage that Leipzig enjoys from its location is the increasing number of visitors from neighbouring countries", explains Matthias Kober.

The share of foreign visitors doubled over the previous year, for example. The majority of these came from Poland, the Czech Republic and other Central and Eastern European countries. In 2008 the AMITEC once again anticipates welcoming over 50,000 trade visitors and some 270 international exhibitors, who will present their innovations, product programmes and services on a surface area of 20,000 square metres. Close of registration for exhibitors is 15 October 2007.
