Barcelona Business and Franchise Show

From the 3rd to the 5th of April 2008 in the Montjuïc exhibition centre, the Barcelona Business and Franchise Show (BNF) will provide the setting for some 150 franchises and business concepts looking for entrepreneurs and investors in Catalonia and the surrounding area. Thanks to BNF, many of these companies will be able to start or consolidate the expansion of their networks in one of the Spanish franchise systems most dynamic markets. The organisers expect an audience of over 20,000 visitors.

BNF attracts a quality audience, really interested in franchising as a self-employment or investment formula, since this proven business model entails fewer risks for the entrepreneur. Visitors, who can register free on-line, will find over 3, 500 m2 of stands space showcasing all types of business concepts from more than 20 different sectors, as well as franchise consultants, specialist press, service providers and commercial networks.

Visitors to BNF can obtain first-hand information and make initial contact with different brands in order to assess their experience, find out about the business concept and the support and services offered before committing to becoming franchisees.

Some of the brands participating for the first time in BNF are: Aïta, Trucco and Kemacu in the fashion and accessories sector; Heineken España with their theme pubs Guinness Official Irish Pub, Gambrinus, Cruz Blanca, La Amstelería, Beer Station and Paulaner Bierhaus; the jewellery and costume jewellery firm, Fascini di Pietra; the cleaning and restoration company Cleanet Empresarial; the innovative property management system, Fincadelia; the consultancy company, Inverpoint Sinergy, dedicated to buying, selling and transferring businesses; the quick automobile repair company, Midas, and the urgent transport and courier company, Tourline Express.

In the specialist store category -one of the fastest growing sectors- visitors will be able to see Howards Storage Group, an Australian chain selling home organisation products, La Carte des Vins, a high-end wine franchise, Poti's, promotional gift establishments, Legea, Italian sports gear and equipment brand; Forn dell'Italia bakeries; the chocolate shop Xocoa and Motormania, with all types of motorcycle products.

New BNF exhibitors in the beauty and personal grooming category are, the IPL hair removal franchise, Depilaris and, in dietetics and pharmacy "Peso diez, la dieta fácil". Other recent arrivals to the Barcelona franchise show are the new infrared heating system Calor Verde; the computer software supplier and network provider for establishments and distribution companies Ibertema; the insurance network FIATC Seguros and the healthy footwear MBT based on the African Masai way of walking.

Also making its debut in BNF is the Amicca association which will present, in exclusive, the new "shop in shop" concept, multi-sector establishment which sells the products of over ten complementary brands and which will soon begin to appear in shopping centres in different Spanish cities. This association is comprised of 50 firms from different sectors looking for commercial premises at rational costs by the creation of alternative shopping areas.

In addition, numerous brands continue to participate in BNF, year after year: Some of these veterans of the Barcelona franchise show are: MRW, Carlin, 5 a Sec, The City Arms, Los Manjares del Rey, Chiquitin, Zafiro Tours, Tailor & Co, Sports Bar, Beep, ING, Origen 99.9%, Credit Services, Ab Club de Viaje, Plantour, Serhogar System, Signarama, Grupo BB Servicios, FDS Consulting and Tormo & Asociados. BNF is also providing incentives to new franchisers, offering special support to brands and business concepts which have started up in the last year. The aim is to contribute to showing the continuous innovation in the franchise system. The initiative, still in the space allotment phase, is being well received by the sector.

This year's activities include the traditional catwalk, with two daily shows, which will showcase the collections of various fashion and accessories brands; the presentation, on the 4th of April, of the BNFicio Awards, which recognise the effort made by exhibitors to promote the show, the ACTitud Awards, which reward quality service to visitors and the Mediterranean Entrepreneur Award for the best export performance by a franchising company.
