British Council To Host Education Expo at Rizqun

The British Council will be hosting its annual education expo this Saturday at the Sutra Function Hall, Level 4, The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong. Open from 1pm to 8pm, students who wish to further their studies in the UK will have the opportunity to speak first hand to representatives from over 25 leading UK educational institutions.

The education expo provides an excellent opportunity for students and parents to get an impression of the institutions, query about fees and the various courses that are being offered, and decide which is best for them.

Amongst the few courses that will be offered at the expo include medicine, nursing, engineering, Islamic banking, law, business and finance and international relations. Parents and students will also get a better understanding of the various application procedures for courses, scholarships, and English Language proficiency certificates as well as study visas.

There will be three important seminars during the exhibition: the UCAS Online Applications, from 2 to 3pm - a seminar to help applicants understand the UCAS Online Application procedure step by step; Study in Scotland, from 3.15 to 4.15pm - a seminar to give an overview of study opportunities and living conditions in Scotland; and Features of IELTS (International English Language Testing System, an English proficiency test), from 4.30 to 5.30 pm - a seminar that will explain what the exam contains and include tips on improving candidates' performance.

Various associated experts will also be present to offer advice such as UCAS (the UK's Universities and Colleges Admission Service), which handles applications for places on all full-time higher education courses, Brunei Darussalam Accreditation Council to help with queries on accreditation of courses, representatives from the Ministry of Education to offer advice on MOE scholarships and the British High Commission to offer advice on visas issues.

British High Commissioner to Brunei, Mr John Saville, said, "This is our flagship education event of the year. The British Council puts great effort into helping prospective students to get accurate, unbiased information that enables them to make good decisions about their institution and course, and helps them find their way through the various application processes."

"It can all seem a bit daunting. I do encourage anyone considering study in the UK to come along and take advantage of the help and expertise the expo offers, as the first step towards an exciting educational experience in the UK."
