IEC Partners with Telecom Italia and BT for SOFNET 08

The International Engineering Consortium has announced that Italian telecom giant, Telecom Italia, will be featured as the Service Provider Sponsor for the SOFNET 08 conference and exhibition, to be held April 28 through May 1 at the Olympia National Hall in London, England. BT will serve as the official host sponsor of the event.

The IEC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a range of technology as well as business solutions catering to various industries as well as university communities. The SOFNET exhibition and conference aims at bringing together industry leaders and will focus on next generation technology deployments, software solutions and products to enable companies build and deliver new services to the market. Top experts will discuss latest strategies to help organizations stay ahead in a highly competitive environment.

"It's clear to the industry where next-generation networks are headed and what they need to be successful, " commented IEC President John Janowiak in a press release. "And currently there is no conference and exhibition exclusively dedicated to bringing software and hardware vendors together with the new breed of 'soft service providers' ... therefore the IEC is proud to partner withBT ( News - Alert) and Telecom Italia to quench the thirst for this type of knowledge."

This year's SOFNET conference will feature around 50 educational sessions that will complement an exhibition around IP-centric networks. Numerous software and hardware solutions around the "anything, anytime, anywhere" theme will be presented.

SOFNET 08 Conference Chair and BT Group Chief Technology Officer Matt Bross further commented, "While transforming our business at BT, we realized early on that, in a software-driven world, collaboration with external partners was crucial. In addition to Bross, the conference will feature keynotes from industry experts including Sally Davis, chief executive officer of BT Wholesale; Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manager of Oracle; Helmut Leopold, director of platform and technology management at Telekom Austria AG; and Andreas Mueller-Schubert, general manager of global solutions atMicrosoft ( News - Alert) TV Microsoft Corporation.
