| Cenex With Sheffield City Council to Host Yorkshire Green Fleet Event by Cenex, the UK's first national centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, is hosting a joint two-day conference, exhibition and seminar on Low Carbon Vehicle Technology and Low Emission Transport Strategies, at The Source at Meadowhall, Sheffield, on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th March. The conference, hosted in partnership with the Sheffield City Council, is aimed at putting Yorkshire at the forefront of low carbon vehicle deployment. Working with Cenex, the Sheffield City Council is investigating a number of low emission strategies for local authorities, public transport service providers and car clubs in the region. Beginning with a keynote speech by Rt Hon Rosie Winterton, MP, Minister of State for Transport, the conference will focus on innovation and technology, with sessions chaired by various members of the Sheffield City Council. Specific sessions will cover Electric and hybrid cars and vans; Natural gas and fuel cell vehicles; Dual fuel diesel trucks; Future developments towards a hydrogen economy. Day 2 – Low Emission Transport Strategies for the Region, a seminar Focussing on green innovation within Yorkshire, the seminar will outline tried and tested policy drivers that can assist public and private organisations in their quest to reduce carbon emissions and also improve air quality. Specific topics and speakers include Robert Evans, CEO, Cenex: Innovation and Procurement strategies in the low carbon automotive sector; Andrew Whittles, Project Development Manager for Cenex: low emission strategies and schemes for fleets. Speaking about the event, Robert Evans, CEO, Cenex said: "The Yorkshire Green Fleet Event will bring together industry specialists, local government decision-makers, and business users from around the country to present and discuss low carbon technologies. Cenex is focused on helping organisations integrate low carbon vehicles into their fleet operations.
