Ctia Wireless 2008 Announces Keynote Speakers

Ctia Wireless 2008, the premier global event representing the $500 billion wireless industry, announced the first round of keynote speakers for the upcoming spring show.

Speakers include Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices Division; Dan Hesse, president and CEO of Sprint Nextel; Lowell McAdam, president and CEO of Verizon Wireless and CTIA chairman; Arun Sarin, CEO of Vodafone Group; and Marco Boerries, president of Yahoo! Mobile. CTIA WIRELESS 2008 takes place April 1-3 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"We have assembled a stellar lineup of the wireless industry's most distinguished leaders to keynote this year's show, " said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director of CTIA WIRELESS. "Together these luminaries and newsmakers will make CTIA WIRELESS a hotbed for breaking news and innovation."

With more than 20 million Windows Mobile-equipped handsets in the marketplace today, Robbie Bach plans to double that number this year. As president of Microsoft's Entertainment & Devices Division, Bach drives the company's Connected Entertainment vision, offering consumers new branded entertainment experiences across music, gaming, video and mobile communications. His responsibilities include guiding software, services and hardware innovation throughout Microsoft's entertainment and mobility platforms, and bringing those solutions to market with retailers and partners.

Daniel Hesse was named president and chief executive officer of Sprint Nextel in December 2007. Hesse is using CTIA as a platform to address the wireless industry for the first time as the leader of Sprint Nextel. He previously spent 23 years at AT&T in a number of key positions including president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Services from 1997-2000.

Lowell McAdam is the president and CEO of Verizon Wireless as well as the newly appointed chairman of the CTIA Board of Directors. Verizon Wireless is at the forefront of infrastructure changes as the entire industry prepares for 4G. His experience in wireless telecommunications spans more than two decades in leadership positions at PrimeCo Personal Communications, AirTouch Communications and Pacific Bell.

Wireless operators is Arun Sarin, CEO of Vodafone and director of the company's board. Sarin has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than 20 years, and was recently named Global Indian of the Year by CNN-IBN, recognized for his investment and faith in India, and his success as CEO of one of the world's largest and most respected companies.

Yahoo! will be represented on the CTIA keynote stage for the first time this year. Marco Boerries is an established industry leader with a compelling vision for enabling digital mobility. Boerries has global responsibility for all aspects of Yahoo!'s Connected Life Division, which encompasses the company's mobile, digital home, PC client and broadband teams around the world, including Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 and Yahoo! oneSearch products for mobile.
