Z - Subcontracting Fair

Leipzig's duo event comprising the Z - Subcontracting Fair and the intec is once again expecting more than 1,000 exhibitors from all over Europe from February 26 to 29, 2008. Both trade fairs are closely connected with the industrial development taking place in Central Germany, where the most prominent industrial segments are automobile and machinery production together with their support sectors. Up to 500 exhibitors will be on hand at the Z - the annual get-together for suppliers and their customers from the automobile industry as well as plant and machine construction segments.

In this case, the suppliers who primarily serve the automobile industry and the suppliers supporting machine construction industry are approximately balanced. As in the past, exhibitors from abroad make up a substantial percentage of all exhibitors - more than one-third. The groups include suppliers from the Czech Republic, Russia, Romania, Poland, Sweden and Italy. With regard to Russia, companies from the three major industrial regions - Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg - will be participating for the second time in 2008.

More than 500 exhibitors will be highlighting their tool and special-purpose machinery as well as other product groups and methods for metal processing, forming technology, mechatronic systems, tools, sensor technology, and many more at the intec. Foreign exhibitors come from Italy, Japan, Austria, Poland and Switzerland, and other countries. Some of the market leaders participating in the intec include Deckel Maho Gildemeister, Festo, GF Agie Charmilles, HAAS Automation Europe, Index Werke, Mori Seiki, Niles-Simmons, Trumpf Laser- und Systemtechnik and more.

For the upcoming intec, two trends are becoming evident already: Many exhibitors are reserving much larger trade fair stands than for the previous event, so much that the intec 2008 will increase by 50% in terms of floor space. Moreover, the number of manufacturers is increasing. More and more companies are participating in the trade fair with their parent companies, which is also true for foreign companies. Together, the intec and Z encompass approx. 42,000 m2.

"Hosting the Z - Subcontracting Fair and the intec - Industrial Trade Fair for Manufacturing, Tool and Special-purpose Machine Construction, at the same time has created an incredibly harmonious trade fair combination. Automobile and machinery construction are closely interrelated in many aspects. That's why exhibitors and visitors both profit from the combination", explains Dr. Deliane Träber, Executive Director of Leipzig's Subcontracting Fair.

"We always attach great importance to the supporting program of specialized events which offer our customer a direct and practical benefit", says Kersten Bunke-Njengué, Project Director of the Z. The proven mainstays of the trade fair's supporting program that are available for both the Z and intec include the Purchasing Days for systematically developing business contacts, Business People's Meeting "CONTACT" and the Exhibitor Forum.

In 2008, machine construction is at the center of attention again: the Expert Forum 2008 "Future of Machine Construction". This follow-up event of the internationally regarded Conference on the Future of Mechanical Engineering of the intec 2007 is being organized by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology and VDMA German Engineering Association, among others, and takes into account the great economic significance which the machine construction segment has in eastern Germany.

For the third time, the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM), Berlin, has selected Leipzig's exhibition center as venue for its internationally acclaimed convention "MicroCar 2008". This convention will be held on February 27, 2008, focusing on fundamental trends in "Micro-Nano Materials, Micro and Nano Technologies and their Importance for Automotive and Vehicle Construction, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering".

This time, the Annual International Convention for the Automotive Industry highlights, among other things, light-weight construction that would also interest the machine constructors among the visitors. It will also focus on the reduction of CO2 emissions, the expansion of international business areas and sustainable technical strategies of manufacturers and suppliers. The complete program is available at www.chemnitz.ihk24.de. Conference languages are German and English.
