Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition

The Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (EMITT) - scheduled for Feb. 14-17 in Istanbul at the Beylikdüzü Fair and Congress Center (TÜYAP) - has been met with higher than expected interest this year and will kick off with 2,500 exhibitors from over 50 countries.

Over the years, EMITT has become an important meeting point for the tourism scene, bringing together hotels, tour agencies, city and country promoters, entrepreneurs and tourism professionals from Turkey and the rest of the world. The fair saw growth of 50 percent in exhibitors in 2007 over 2006 and has grown just as much this year compared to last.

Covering a huge area including the Mediterranean, the Middle East, Southeastern Europe and Asia, EMITT is regarded as a world fair rather than an event only for the eastern Mediterranean region. Turkey is currently the fastest growing tourism destination among countries in the aforementioned regions.

Due to the increased number ofapplications for exhibiting, for the first time all 10 halls of TÜYAP will be used for the event. This year the exhibitors hail from over 50 countries, including Germany, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Bulgaria, Algeria, Czech Republic, China, Georgia, Indonesia, Morocco, Palestine, South Africa, Georgia, India, Croatia, the Netherlands, Iran, Ukraine, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), Kyrgyzstan, Crimea, Kenya, Korea, Cuba, Lebanon, Macedonia, Malaysia, Egypt, Moldova, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Peru, Portugal, Russia, the Seychelles, Slovakia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Pakistan, Yemen and Greece.
