WiMAX World Asia Conference and Exposition

Trendsmedia, the events and publishing division of Yankee Group Research, Inc. and Beacon Events announced that they will co-produce the second annual WiMAX World Asia Conference and Exposition to be held in Bangkok, March 18-20, 2008. WiMAX World is the global event series in the world focused on WiMAX and wireless and mobile broadband.

According to Eliot Weinman, conference founder and president of Trendsmedia, "WiMAX World is now entering its fifth year of production. Since 2004 we have developed the largest WiMAX focused wireless and mobile broadband event series on three continents - USA, EMEA and Asia - and have grown our events from 700 attendees and 14 exhibitors in 2004 to over 10,000 attendees and 300+ exhibitors in 2007." Over the past four years, WiMAX World has attracted over 20,000 professionals, including over 6,000 operators.

The WiMAX World Global Series are the industry's only events that present an unbiased, balanced view of the promises and challenges of WiMAX in the context of the broader mobile broadband and mobile internet markets. The events are independently produced with the support of major WiMAX Forum ecosystem players and over 350 corporate sponsors, analysts, associations and media channels around the globe. WiMAX World is the must attend event in the WiMAX and mobile broadband industry.

Mr. Weinman continued, "Our collaboration with Beacon, a world class producer of events in Asia, provides our sponsors with a very low risk investment and ensures them that they will be able to network with hundreds of Asian operators and WiMAX ecosystem players who are involved in the next generation of WiMAX network deployments throughout Asia."

Daniel Kirwin, managing director of Beacon Events said, "We are very pleased to be collaborating with Trendsmedia on WiMAX World Asia. Our partnership with Trendsmedia enables WiMAX World Asia to maintain its stature of being the largest and most important WiMAX event in Asia. Beacon has particularly strong ties to the Asian fixed and mobile operator marketplace which is very important to the future of WiMAX deployments. We look forward to working with Trendsmedia and all of the WiMAX World Asian sponsors to produce a very successful event together."

Currently, Beacon Events also produces the Mobility World Congress & Exhibition (in its 12th year of production) and the China Mobility International Summit & Exhibition. Beacon has a well established reputation for producing the regions most important telecom events.

WiMAX World Asia will take place in Bangkok, Thailand for several important reasons. Bangkok, the financial capital of one of the fastest-growing economies in the world has become one of the most popular international travel destinations in all of Asia. Bangkok has the greatest concentration of luxury hotels and is a major airline hub for Southeast Asia.

According to Berge Ayvazian, conference co-chair and chief strategy officer of Yankee Group, "In developing the agenda for WiMAX World Asia, we will leverage the Bangkok location to present regulatory and operator case studies from the entire region, including India, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, Malaysia! Philippines, China, Korea, Australia and Japan." Daniel Kirwin of Beacon adds, "We have found Bangkok to be a very strong venue for regional events and the ideal location to attract delegates from established, growing and green field operators".
