| SportAccord 2008 Tightens Focus On Cities The organisers of SportAccord, the annual convention of the sport movement, are expanding their offer of features aimed to serve cities that host or want to host sports events around the world. The sixth edition of SportAccord, taking place in Athens, Greece from June 2-6, 2008, will feature a new SportAccord 'City Forum' designed specifically to enable cities to share ideas and best-practice principles. Likewise, the brand-new SportAccord Yearbook, being launched this year, will focus especially on sport cities, providing a valuable reference tool on the sporting and event infrastructure of cities worldwide. The special early-bird delegate rate is still available for those booking their places before the end of this week. Organisers are initially restricting passes to three individuals per organisation in order to embrace as many organisations as possible after having to turn delegates away from the event in Beijing. This time, the Greek hosts are working with organisers to deliver an increasingly memorable programme of social and cultural events in Athens, enhancing SportAccord's already well-known platform for networking opportunities. Over 1400 delegates from more than 500 organisations worldwide will take part in the buzzing 'SportAccord Week', comprising of a dynamic exhibition, world class keynote addresses, numerous networking receptions and the annual general meetings of the Sports Governing Bodies. The world's media will also attend SportAccord in June to report on the International Olympic Committee's announcement of cities successfully making it to official 'candidate' status' in the race to become the host of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Exhibition News :: home page |
