Asian Cartoon Exhibition

The Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation are organising the lift Asian Cartoon Exhibition, to be held in the Sultanate for two weeks from today until Feb 5 at the Brunei Museum.

The exhibition has been organised annually by the Japan Foundation since 1995, employing the friendly medium of cartoons to introduce Asian societies, cultures and ways of life from various perspectives, a press release stated.

This year's theme is Asian Youth Culture and it will feature 11 leading cartoonists faint 11 countries - Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China and India.

Rahim Jahit, a Bruneian cartoonist better known as Cuboi, will also to show seven of his artworks, while UBD students will feature another four of theirs.

The artworks depict youth culture in the respective nations for viewers' entertainment, as well as promoting an awareness of Asian similarities and diversities. The various cartoonists have imbued their works with a unique sense of humour and satire that are expected to be both amusing and insightful.
