| International Trade Fair And Conference On Natural Disasters For the first time ever the acqua alta alpina - international trade fair and conference on natural disasters, disaster management and climate change in alpine regions will take place in the Salzburg Messezentrum from 29 to 30 November 2007. The recent capers the weather has been playing with us, causing flooding, storms and extreme fluctuations in temperature, have clearly shown that we are now being confronted with the effects of climate change on a global basis. Future weather forecasts are showing us how we will continue to be affected by the ozone hole and planetary warming. The past winter has demonstrated emphatically that Alpine regions will not remain unaffected by these changes in climate. It is no longer merely the concern about melting glaciers and the increase in natural catastrophes in the mountains that we need to worry about, but also the problem of the effect on winter tourism and the economic basis for the population in these areas. A fix point of the high-standard conference will be the Austrian association of towns and municipalities with their forum, "Protective measures on a municipal level". The trade fair will deal with products and services in the fields of prevention, intervention and after-care with emphasis on the following five categories Climatic effects of flooding; Risk and disaster management, moveable flood protection; Flood prevention and precautionary measures; Emergency relief after natural disasters; Barrages and dams. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
