| 1st European Summit on Identity - Identity Matters At the 1st European Summit on identity held and yesterday at London's Langham Hotel, over 150 senior business managers from across the UK and Europe resolved unanimously to work together to take the lead on preventing identity fraud and to work with the government on measures to prevent further breaches of data security such as occurred yesterday. The call for the private sector to take ownership of the problem was led by Richard Law, CEO of GB, the Summit's main sponsor said: "Delegates and speakers at Identity Matters represented the largest ever gathering in Europe of identity fraud professionals, representing the private sector, Parliament and the Civil Service and Police. "The unanimous resolution underlines the depth of feeling and concern for the future - not just of our industry but our very society as a result of this security breach." Simon Davies of Privacy International and leading authority on issues of privacy and personal information security said at Identity Matters: "Everything changes from today. Yesterday, nobody was talking about identity - today it is on everyone's lips, but consumers simply don't know where to go. "We wholly support the resolution of the industry to tackle this issue. Industry has an unprecedented opportunity to show leadership and we are encouraged by the Summit's resolution." write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
