Seatec 2008: Great Demand For The Yacht Engineering Forum

Seatec 2008, the International Exhibition of technologies and subcontracting for boat and ship builders, due to be held in Marina di Carrara from 7 to 9 February 2008, is organising for the second year running, with the support of the Meccanonet group, the YEF – Yacht Engineering Forum – a symposium for nautical engineering and design.

The 2008 symposium will be chaired by Engineer Giampiero Audino representing the company Meccano Surveying in Leghorn, part of the Meccanonet group, and will deal with the following six subject areas.

Project and production: the reliability of the project in the complicated production process. The new methods and systems to make the complicated and delicate process from design to production more cohesive. The subject will be discussed by technical managers from two shipyards chosen among the most well-known in the world.

Classification, design and production of giga-yachts. Luxury yachts or passenger ships? The two important world classification registers will consider the gradual increase in the size of yachts and the ensuing complications in terms of design and legislation.

Ergonomics and the nautical industry: form and function. When architecture and design look at the functional side and not only the aesthetics of a project. Universities and producers will be discussing this issue, the title of which is still to be announced.

Filling and painting: the great challenge. Standards and performance regarding fillers and paints. A discussion among producers and shipbuilding inspectors.

New frontiers in the design of MEP engineering and nautical automation. New design ideas and new systems for the future of MEP engineering and nautical automation. The design of large-sized yachts. Methods and advanced IT tools in the integrated design of giga-yachts.
