Glassex and GP&T 2008

Lean manufacturing is an overused buzzword within in the industry, and for something that is supposedly based on making things simpler, it can often seem unnecessarily complicated. But despite the jargon and competing interpretations it comes down to giving customers what they want, when they want it, without wasting time, energy or resources. For manufacturers of doors, windows or conservatories and glass processors, Glassex and GP&T 2008, which run from 8-10 April at the NEC, offer the opportunity to find answers to many of the questions that lean manufacturing raises.

And whilst some companies may think that lean methods do not apply to them, making even small changes based on lean processes can make a huge difference to materials wastage, reducing handling and improving inventory control. These issues are becoming more important as glass companies in particular, are required to deal with more exotic materials such as self-cleaning glass, solar control materials and an ever larger range of low e-value products to meet customer demands and those of changing regulations.

Dave Broxton concludes: "For companies of any size looking to improve their manufacturing efficiency, Glassex and GP&T provides the visitor with a unique opportunity to see the world's foremost equipment manufacturers side-by-side and offers the perfect platform for leading machinery companies to demonstrate their equipment. For anyone interested in improving their manufacturing effectiveness in a sustainable way and ultimately increasing profits, the show is the place to find out about the options available."
