| Elma Helsinki Food & Agriculture Show Novembers trio of concurrent exhibitions the ELMA Helsinki Food & Agriculture Show, the Helsinki Forest Fair and the Arts & Crafts Fair create a green-themed weekend that will appeal to forest-owners, handicraft enthusiasts as well as to friends of rural animals and delicacies. Ten or so programme venues for 130 performers as well as over 300 exhibitors will enliven this totality. Green values, such as love for Finlands forests and vibrant countryside as well as the joy of working with your hands, are the weekends lead idea. This years visiting province is Satakunta, which will introduce the tastes, folk and childrens culture, handicrafts, entertainers and expertise of the archipelago and mainland part of the region to ELMA. Visitors will be invited into the Satakunta section by the 10-strong KA-TU street theatre company. Archipelago natives Suvi and Tom Lindqvist, the new travel entrepreneurs of the Kylmpihlaja lighthouse island off Rauma, will conjure up delicacies from sea buckthorn in the Valio kitchen. The animals at ELMA from bees to cows and Shetland ponies will appeal to both young and older visitors. The bakery will heat marzipan figures prepared by visiting children, while the Beer Room & Wine Salon provides adults with an opportunity to take the weight off their legs and sample domestic beers and wines. The exhibition sections will feature rural foods and organic produce to take home with you as well as information on, for example, travel services and rural development. The joy of working with your hands and the booming interior decoration, tuning and handicrafts hobbies are highlighted at the Arts & Crafts Fair, which flanks the ELMA event. Knitwear trends and other handicraft ideas for this winter and Christmas will be presented by rhythmic gymnasts on the White Winter catwalk. Workshops in the Knitwear on the loose section will test knitting needles, pedal out some traditional Finnish poppana textiles and prepare fun ribbons with knitting puppets. The Helsinki Forest Fair is now being arranged for the first time. From next year onwards the main cooperation partner will be the Finnish Forest Association and its Forest Days event, which will in future take place in conjunction with the Forest Fair. Professors Atte Korhola, Kari Mielikinen and Matti Krkkinen will delve into, among other issues, climate change at this years seminars. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
