International Art and Antiques Fair

Over the last few weeks of the year, all antique lovers will turn their thoughts towards Feria de Madrid. Thus, between 17th and 25th November, the fairground will provide the setting for the staging of the thirty-first edition of FERIARTE, the International Art and Antiques Fair, an event that will bring together the very best Spanish antique-dealers and gallery-owners, alongside a selection of the most prestigious representatives from the sector at an international level. Aimed at all sections of the public, this fair is the forum for the world of antiques in Spain and, for some ten years, has also served as an obligatory event for collectors and admirers of high-quality nineteenth and twentieth century paintings.

In total, some 177 professionals will take part at this edition of FERIARTE, placing more than 18,000 pieces of high artistic value on direct sale to visitors. These items belong to different styles, ages and specialised fields, but are all a minimum of 100 years old. The quality, age and degree of restoration of each piece is carefully checked by experts within the various art disciplines.

The selection of works and items on show at this edition, consisting mainly of furniture, archaeological pieces, paintings (old and contemporary), sculpture, timepieces, porcelain, lamps, silver, crystal, Oriental art, African art and jewellery, will testify to the improvement that the fair has witnessed in recent years in terms of quality and diversification.

The exhibition presented at this edition will present a considerable number of Art Deco objects, along with items dating from the 1950's, not to mention Japanese engravings, Spanish and French furniture, 16th century objects and 19th and 20th century paintings. As occurred at the last edition of the fair, FERIARTE will feature a specific area for the paintings.

Among the new features this year, we might highlight the wide-ranging and prestigious delegation of foreign participants, consisting of 17 reputed antique-dealers and gallery-owners from Germany, France, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Syria and Argentina. Furthermore, for the first time, FERIARTE will organise two free-guided tours of the fair for visitors on a daily basis, in collaboration with the Spanish Centre for New Professions.
