| Huawei to set Basingstoke's Skyline Ablaze Huawei Technologies ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications solutions for operators around the world, has announced that it would sponsor The Mayor's Firework Fiesta, to be held in Basingstoke's War Memorial Park on 5 November 2007. The Mayor's Firework Fiesta is an annual community event, hosted by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The occasion is always a hit, with families filling the Borough's park to watch the spectacular firework display and enjoy the funfair attractions. Proceeds from the event contribute to the Mayor's charity appeal to support local charities. Throughout his year in office, Cllr Warwick Lovegrove is working to raise funds for four worthy causes: The Children's Society Young Carers Initiative, which provides support in schools in Basingstoke and Deane for young careers and their families. Fir Tree Lodge in Tadley, home to six adults with visual impairments and additional complex needs; The North Hampshire Medical Fund, which needs £25,000 to buy new, state-of-the-art, life-saving airway equipment for the breast unit at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital; and Breast Cancer Support, a North Hampshire Hospital project, looking to fund a quiet room for patients to use following diagnosis. Huawei Technologies is an international company headquartered in China, with two offices based in Basingstoke. Over 300 employees work for the company in the UK, of which more than 80% are locally recruited. A large majority of Huawei's customers and employees are based in the M3 and M4 area. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
