| Import Shop Berlin See, feel, taste, smell, hear: the Import Shop Berlin, taking place for the 42nd time on the Exhibition Grounds from 7 to 11 November, has displays to delight all the senses. Traditionally made Egyptian textile products are just waiting to be discovered. West African beer will be served, while the captivating scent of sandalwood from the Yemen drifts across from the next hall. For the second time the Import Shop Berlin has a partner country, and this year it is Indonesia: attracting attention with quality products, information events and displays of dancing. This is an ideal opportunity to buy fascinating and unusual items, and then travel to the country where they came from. With this in mind the exhibitors at the new "Holiday Dreams" forum will be concentrating on environmentally aware travel, nature and adventure trips, as well as cultural and educational travel. With the assistance of these exhibitors almost the entire world is within reach. The displays in the "Africa Hall" will delight all the senses. Apart from the talking drums of the exhibitors in Hall 8.1, typical regional cuisine and beverages will be on sale, and dealers will be offering exquisite wooden statues and furniture. There will even be many everyday items and utensils made from tin plate. Another unusual exhibit is the "Mallette Cot Cot", a briefcase made of plywood and covered with newspaper and colourful pieces of tin cans. Made in the Senegalese capital Dakar, it owes its name to a former foreign minister of that country, Jean-Pierre Cot, who apparently liked this type of case so much that he used to bring one to cabinet meetings. Hall 11.1. will be offering just about everything that contributes to "Natural Living". This is a chance to familiarise oneself with Far Eastern medicines, ayurvedic body care products and health food made from edible wild plants. Organic foods and natural cosmetics are part of a growing trend, and a mail order company will be exhibiting a range of these products at the Import Shop. For the colder weather dealers from Estonia and Lithuania will be selling pullovers, scarves and trousers made from pure, untreated sheep's wool. Artists, gallery-owners and designer from all over the world will be bringing their latest creations to the special trade fair "Art + Style" in Hall 12. The exciting combination of materials such as feathers, 925 silver, skins, natural fibres and leather is what gives handbags and key fobs from Colombia their appeal. Thuya wood from south western Morocco used to be used to make classical, French art deco furniture. The distinctive grain of this wood is said to reflect the structural diversity of the Sahara. The same hall will also feature unusual Christmas decorations and gifts at the special "Winter at Home" show. In addition to unusual Christmas wreaths, some even made in remotest Africa, the exhibits will include art deco lamps made using the Gallé technique, and zebra-patterned fabric bottle covers. Visitors to Hall 12 can learn about the "Asian Lifestyle". A Japanese garden forms the focal point, around which the exhibitors have set up their stands with many precious things from the Orient.
