| Vivaness 2008: Natural personal care exhibition celebrates birthday! ![]() Exhibitors and visitors at the Vivaness premiere in 2007 experienced a feast of the senses, successfully cultivated their business relationships and established new contacts. 99 % of the visitors were satisfied with the possibilities for visiting and making contact at the exhibition and 98 % made new business contacts. Organic, nature conservation and social commitment are important socio-political themes that are increasingly often taken up by the market strategists of large international companies. Modern consumers – in the case of natural personal care mainly women of 30 upwards and young families – make their decision to buy in a critical and aware manner. Large international cosmetic companies are also reacting increasingly to the changing awareness of the customers. Pure natural ingredients, sustainability in the production of cosmetic products and the sparing use of resources have long been a matter of course for the manufacturers of natural personal care products. One reason for the continuing upward trend in the natural personal care market – with annual growth rates of up to 20 % in Europe – is the constantly growing number of people who are allergic to synthetic scents, dyes and preservatives. Consumers also increasingly recognize that every single person bears responsibility for an intact environment, and this responsibility starts with the raw materials. Manufacturers of natural personal care products take the ecological aspects into account in the choice and production of raw materials. Most of the raw materials are obtained from plants. The raw materials are produced with little interference with nature and with due regard to animal welfare and conservation of species. Genetic engineering of the genetic makeup of animals and plants is rejected. Raw materials are converted to cosmetic preparations carefully and with few chemical processes. Natural substances have passed through an evolution process together with humans, which reduces the potential toxicological risk. The manufacturers create new and stable jobs worldwide through long-term cooperation contracts. The working and living conditions of the partners improve distinctly and the social structure and lifestyle in the developing countries are strengthened. Fair trade also includes nature conservation. No jungle is to be cleared for growing raw materials from jungle plants and no over-exploitation practised when collecting raw materials from plants growing in the wild. No chemical fertilizers or synthetic pesticides are used and the use of energy is reduced. For nature conservation purposes, Weleda supports a species conservation project of the World Wildlife Fund for controlled collection of wild arnica flowers in the Romanian Apuseni mountains, a part of the Carpathians. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
