| PacTec-FoodTec Trade Fair-2007 The PacTec & FoodTec tradeshow for the packaging and materials handling industries as well as the food industry will be held at the Helsinki Fair Centre on 16–18 October 2007. The event is organised every third year by the Finnish Fair Corporation in cooperation with the Finnish Packaging Association and the Finnish Society of Food Science and Technology. This year's PacTec-FoodTec trade fair for the packaging and materials handling industries as well as the food industry – the biggest event of its field in the Nordic countries – will be displaying the entire sector's expertise in technology and innovation. A total of 236 exhibitors have signed up for the event, which opens tomorrow, and 7, 817 m2 of exhibition floor area has been set aside for them. The event's seminars will delve on sustainable development, among other matters. In addition to Finland, exhibitors are coming from Belgium, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Turkey, Russia and Estonia. The visitors include professionals of the packaging, food, beverage, advertising, marketing, transport, storage and chemical industries as well as commerce. Developments in the international packaging industry are very rapid and packaging has become an increasingly important aspect of products and branding. The food industry, on the other hand, is the world's largest consumer of packaging. Materials handling is this year's highlighted major individual product group, in addition to which the event will provide a comprehensive cross-section of the entire sector. PacTec is now being arranged for the 11th time, while FoodTec is in its fourth year. Many seminars of interest to industry professionals will be organised in conjunction with the fair.
