| The 2nd International Bioenergy Fair The 2nd International Bioenergy Fair, to be held on the 25th-27th October in Valladolid, will count on a delegation of Swedish companies from the sector, whose participation in the fair is thanks to the administration carried out by the Commercial Office of Sweden in Spain, the international representative of Expobioenergía'07. The trip by Expobionergía'07 representatives to the site located to the south of Jönköping (Sweden) allowed for the promotion of the public image and awareness of Expobioenergía'07, whilst strengthening relations with exhibitors for the next edition, establishing contacts with other companies, detecting new markets and keeping up to date on the most cutting edge machinery. The most notable aspect of the fourth edition of SkogsElmia is that it is an open air forestry fair, which takes place in natural surroundings on a mountainside in Bratteborg, in the municipality of Vaggeryd, around 30 kilometres to the south of Jönköping. The particularities of Bratteborg make it an ideal place to host a forestry fair, with a surface area of around 1, 000 hectares of forestry mass, of which SkogsElmia occupies some 150 hectares. This aspect allowed exhibitors at the event to show off their forestry machinery and carry out numerous demonstrations, including several examples of small and large scale wood treatment. Amongst the most curious practices which attendees could see was a small-scale demonstration showing how a person with only small infrastructure can supply himself with biomass and manage it independently. The importance of the presence of representation from the Swedish bioenergy sector at Expobioenergía'07 lies in the privileged position which this country occupies in terms of bioenergy. In this sense, Sweden provides an example both of current use and of transition strategies being implemented in order to achieve a fully sustainable energy system. Swedish energy policy is striving to create a sustainable model, taking a long-term view, in order to obtain the maximum energy possible from renewable sources. The incorporation of renewable energy sources into the Swedish energy system has increased significantly over the last decade. In this regard, one of the plans drawn up by the Government is aimed at the country setting itself free from oil in a period of 15 years, which would make Sweden the first country in the world not to depend in any way on fossil fuel. In fact, in Sweden there are now different alternative fuels for transport, and the environmental management index in this country occupies second place in the global environment protection ranking. Swedish authorities are committed to ensuring that the use of renewable energies involves help and incentives for the general public. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
