In 2007, the electronics industry's eyes will be on Productronica, the world's trade show for electronics production, which will be taking place in Munich, Germany, from November 13th through 16th, 2007. From the key players on the global market to the sector's innovative start-ups, the international electronics production industry is preparing for its most important event, a platform that this community has traditionally used to get up to speed on the latest developments. For Productronica 2007, event organizer Messe München International is expecting over 1, 500 exhibitors and 44, 000 trade visitors from around the globe.

Productronica 2007 is the only event in the world to offer a complete and detailed depiction of the entire electronics production value chain. The exhibition focal points range from production technologies for semiconductors, displays and printed circuit boards to materials processing, mounting technology and product finishing all the way to measurement & testing and quality assurance as well as electronic manufacturing services (EMS), productions logistics and material flow technology.

At this year's Productronica, focal points in the exhibition area and in the accompanying program of special shows, forums, live demonstrations and panel discussions will be dedicated to selected high-growth and future-oriented topics. One of the special highlights for 2007 will be "Organic Electronics, " which features production methods for flexible polymer electronic circuits, such as those employed in smart tickets, electronic "paper, " and labels for the tracking of goods.

Productronica 2007 will also be paying particularly close attention to "Photovoltaics." This exhibition area concentrates on the manufacturing of regular and thin-film solar cells and photovoltaic modules, and it covers the entire production chain from the silicon to the completed module. The areas of semiconductor and display production and clean-room technology are closely linked with the topic of photovoltaics.

Here, as in other exhibition areas, there will be a broad offering for the production of "Green Electronics, " which enable low-emission production. Those seeking an economic solution for transitioning their production processes will find one at Productronica in November – along with concepts for new "green" production processes and environmentally compatible waste management.

Efficiency is also a major theme in "Production Logistics and Material Flow Technology, " which will be receiving continued special attention at Productronica 2007. Solution concepts for reliable product tracking (traceability), cost-cutting enterprise resource planning (ERP) and materials/manufacturing execution systems (MES) as well as other challenges in goods management and logistics are being presented by exhibitors in hall A6.

Productronica 2007 also makes the current and up-coming trends in electronics production tangible in its numerous special shows and live demonstrations. Selected companies and institutions are putting successful concepts for the manufacturing of components and assemblies on display for the international trade public. The special show entitled "System in Package" (hall B5) presents the functional adaptation of electronics to the application environment.
