| The International Book Fair, Liber The International Book Fair, Liber, is coming back to Barcelona, which alternates with Madrid, from the 3rd to the 5th of October. The fair, which was awarded the Fine Arts Gold Merit Medal by the Council of Ministers on the 8th of June, is a trade show organised by Fira de Barcelona and promoted by the Spanish Publishers' Guild. It is the most important publishing event in Spain and a benchmark show in Spanish speaking countries. Barcelona will host the event in 2007 and 2008 after two editions held in Madrid. For this year's show, which will be held in hall 2 of the Montjuïc exhibition centre, the organisers aim to increase the presence of visitors from buyer countries and enhance the cultural dimension of the show. Professionals from the sector will meet at Liber 2007 in the multiple activities, such as round table debates, forums, book presentations and exhibitions. The show will also provide the setting for the Awards for the Promotion of Reading in Communications Media in the categories of written press, radio and television, the Award for the Promotion of Reading in Public Libraries and the Boixareu Ginesta Award to the Bookseller of the Year. The guest country will be Peru, which enjoys great prestige in Latin America literature because of the level of its authors. There will also be a number of companies from Rumania, which is experiencing a boom after its entry into the European Union. Groups of companies from Argentina, Egypt, Venezuela, Morocco and Mexico will also be present in Liber; thereby increase the show's internationalisation. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
