| Ganapathy Exhibition This Vinayaka Chauthi will be special one for Bangaloreans, a special Ganapathy exhibition to be held at Ramanashree Udaya Education Society premises in Vijayanagar where 1600 Ganapathy idols of a private collections will be exhibited. A press release by the Ramanashree Prathishtana here today said that the exhibition will be open for three days starting from 13 September 2007. There are idols from museums from Borneo, Rome, Kongiten province of Japan, Afghanisthan, Nepal, Europe and some rare Ganapathy figures from all over the country crafted in bronze, gold, silver, ivory, wood having different colour and texture and even minute Ganapathy figures crafted on grains. Showing the one he found in Cambodia in 2002 Mr Shadakshari said this particular Ganesha has his trunk up in the air which was an uncommon posture in Ganapathy iconology . One of the rare idols is that from Japan where two Ganapathis are in an embrace and the oriental influence could be seen in the carving. The one from Afghanisthan has no hands and its trunk has been severed- a sign of the pillage of religious idols in that country The Dashavathara Ganapahty series, the musican series, the laptop and mobile Ganesha series are some of non conventional idols.
