| The First Senior Lifestyle Asia Tade Fair The first Senior Lifestyle Asia trade fair will take place 5 – 7 July 2007 in the centre of Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The show is being organised by Messe Frankfurt to harness the great business opportunities available in Asia where the ageing population is expanding at a rapid rate. It will be a landmark exhibition that will give businesses a place to showcase products and services that target the elderly population as well as those people who are preparing for getting older. The market potential for products and services for the elderly is enormous. Currently there are 320 million people over the age of 60 living in Asia Pacific, which accounts for 53% of the world's ageing population. Life expectancy in Hong Kong, which is 79 for males and 84 for females, is much greater than the global average. The population over 65 in Hong Kong accounts for more than 12% of its total population and this is expected to increase rapidly in the future. It is predicted that in ten years time one in four people will be over the age of 50 and life expectancy will be even higher. Disposable income on average is increasing across the population too. According to a recent report by MasterCard Asia/Pacific, the discretionary spending power of the elderly in Hong Kong is predicted to increase by around 9.5% per year to US $8 billion by 2014. Ninety-seven per cent of people aged 60 or above possess savings and fixed deposits. People are working to a later age, which also has an impact on income. Growing older is now seen as a much more positive stage in life, consequently the organisers of Senior Lifestyle Asia have chosen to focus the show on three main areas: Daily Living, Well being and Professional Services. Exhibitors being invited to participate in the Daily Living area will include those that have clothing & shoes; food & drinks; kitchen utensils; bathing accessories; furniture; walking aids; and hearing & visual devices. The Wellbeing area will showcase fitness & exercise equipment, recreational products & services; information & communication technology; therapeutic products & services and nutritional products. Professional Services will include housing and home care services; retraining/continuing education; legal advice; financial/insurance products and travel agents. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
