Taipei International Food Machinery & Technology Show

Leave a vacancy on your procurement list for FOODTECH 2007 this June 21-24 at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Halls 1, 2, and 3. That's where soaring demand, incomes, and appetites from across Asia are driving the need for the best in food processing machinery. And that's why vendors are coming en masse to FOODTECH'007 to seek more overseas clients. To date, more than 150 vendors have registered for the show, comparable to the number of registrants in 2006. With over 500 stands, this will be Taiwan's largest show of its kind, and a benchmark for the food industry throughout Asia.

Entering the 10th year of FOODTECH, we have moved from the early days of individual showcases, to a fully vertically-integrated show, displaying everything from packaging to food processing industries. FOODTECH 2007 will host the following categories: Food technology and products, food and drink processing, baking, food packaging, freezing, refrigeration and cooking equipment, waste disposal and sanitation, CAD& CAM, analysis and measuring devices, restaurant equipment, vending machines, food additives and food industrial technology.

Food is a life necessity. The production and processing of food has evolved from the early days of manual labor to machine-processed, and from single machines to integrated chains and factories of machines. Also, with the cost of labor on the rise, food processing machinery is increasingly becoming automated as well.

Food machinery can be classified according to their functions into six main types: Processors of powders and pellets, processors of sticky food, processors of solid food, processors of liquids, general machinery, and custom processing machinery.

The food industry is intricately tied to the culture of the country which it is in. Different dietary habits will beget different tastes and flavors. Generally tastes can be divided into Eastern and Western types. The Eastern Type is represented by countries such as Japan, China, and other nationalities throughout South East Asia; while Western flavors are dominated by European and American flavors.

In most countries, food processing machines are produced for the domestic market, and some are exported to countries with similar tastes in food. However, with Taiwan's food industry at a high level of development, many large vendors have very stringent demands for their food processors; consequently much of their automated processors are imported from Europe, Japan and the US. With a small domestic market, Taiwan's food processor manufacturers produce 66% of their goods for export, meaning only 34% are for domestic consumption. In order to better satisfy the demands of the export market, many vendors manufacture processors for Eastern and Western tastes, as well as form strategic alliances with European, American, or Japanese vendors. The quality of the processors are assured by patents, the European CE standard, and ISO certification.

In order to allow the buyers and vendors a better grasp of the entire industry chain and increase buying convenience, FOODTECH 2007 will be hosted with FOOD TAIPEI 2007 and TAIPEI PACK 2007. The three shows will attract over 800 vendors and erect over 2, 300 stalls. This is an opportunity not to be missed for any food-related and packaging business!
