| The Design Annual ![]() In their special exhibitions, well-known designers, architects and companies offer a representative overview of current design techniques and creative processes. Stefan Diez and Giulio Ridolfo will be among those debating the references which high-end design its meaning. The exhibits for three of the special exhibitions have been selected by Ilka and Andreas Ruby (Textbild, Berlin) and Dominique Perrault, among others, the theme being "Appropriate Design!". Here, they investigate how today's designers and architects develop the identity of their own work by appropriating techniques, materials and cultural codes from other sectors. A varied cultural programme, featuring theme-specific lectures, discussions and evening events, on all four days of the showcase, provides a behind-the-scenes look at premier design. The theme "Appropriate Design!" is also revisited in the cultural programme, when Andreas Ruby, an expert in the theory of architecture, talks to the designers of the three special exhibitions about their projects and concepts. The visitor will find out more about identity constructs in design expert Tulga Beyerle's lecture series "Fuzzy Identity". Pecha Kucha Night, organized in conjunction with the German Museum of Architecture, is just one of many evening events. In an allnew presentational format, developed by Tokyo-based architects Klein Dytham, 20 speakers will each be shown 20 images and given 20 seconds to talk about each of them. In a quick-fire round of 6.40 minutes, the participants present their ideas, work and projects. The Design Annual is an annual, discussion-orientated event, the overarching mission of which is to investigate and question the society-encompassing processes, which provide the breeding ground for creative disciplines. The event is aimed at architects, interior designers, top specialist retailers, property developers, company procurement managers and building principals and, specifically, every day from 12 noon to 9.00 p.m. at private individuals. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
