The International Consumer Goods and Technologies Fair

The International Consumer Goods and Technologies Fair, to be held from 7 – 12 May 2007 in Plovdiv, will be hosting the Royal Tableware Collection Exhibition of the National Museum of History.

The exposition presents some of the dinner sets and cutlery used by the royal dynasty in everyday life, as well as at official receptions and dinner parties. The exhibits have been in possession of the National Museum of History since 1980s.

The collection will be arranged in Pavilion 6 along with the Exhibition of the Municipalities in Bulgaria. Last year, on display during the Spring Fair were Thracian treasures and the golden mask of Teres, uncovered by the archaeologist Prof. Georgi Kitov.

The exhibits comprising the visiting collection had been manufactured in renowned European workshops and used in the royal palace and the salon-carriages of the royal train known as the "Bulgarian diplomatic railway mission".

Most of the exhibits are silverware with an engraved royal crown. Others, as well as all cutlery, are silver or gold plated, decorated with the royal monogram or with the royal coat-of-arms.
