City Logistics Expo

Scheduled from 18 to 21 April 2007 at the PadovaFiere, City Logistics Expo, the First International Exhibition of City Logistics, promises to be a real workshop for the city of tomorrow. This proposal, launched in June by the Padua Interport and PadovaFiere, is attracting plenty of attention from the market and is strongly backed by Organisations, Associations and Categories. In this project they see the right approach to the question of transporting goods within cities, with important implications that involve all the aspects of city living.

New infrastructures and new means of transport: more modern, rational and ecological. The city of tomorrow will definitely mean all this and more… above all, more services, more innovation and more organisation. A complex combination of all that is material and immaterial to combat the pollution and congestion that are suffocating cities.

These are the presuppositions for the first participations registered for the Exhibition and involve all sectors included in the City Logistics Expo industrial plan. Participation has in fact been confirmed by interports, forwarding agents, producers of electric vehicles, commercial vehicles, transporters, car-park management companies, City Logistics experiences, consultancy studios, fleet management and IT systems, collective vehicles with low environmental impact, local councils and transport companies.

Visitors to the Exhibition will therefore be shown the city of tomorrow, with less pollution and greater efficiency, a city that exists in the imagination of manufacturers and research, but is still foreign to its inhabitants.

The first area will group together the most significant City Logistics experiences, Italian and foreign. Over recent years many experiments have been set up by major municipalities. For the first time, a chance to compare results, approaches and models. Good participation has already been confirmed by Italians and also from France, Germany and Sweden.

The second area is dedicated to vehicles: commercial vehicles that are ecological, electrical and collective with low environmental impact. The third area of the Exhibition will be reserved for logistics operators, urban and extra-urban infrastructures. Interports and urban distribution centres, couriers and transporters, car parks and services linked to a modern conception of parking.

The fourth area is dedicated to research and consultancy. A very broad sector due to the organisational components that make up urban logistics. The fifth area is dedicated to companies and associations, with participation promising to be very good.

City Logistics Expo will be a showcase for products and projects, but it will also provide an opportunity for comparison, information and training. The Convention and Seminar programme includes: 6 convention windows and approximately forty 50-minute seminars – of which 20 are directly organised by the Scientific Committee and the others by exhibitors.
