| Latin America Aero & Defence Latin America Aero & Defence, the most important trade show for the defence industry in Latin America, takes place on April 17-20 at Riocentro in the city of Rio de Janeiro. This is the sixth edition of LAAD, organised every two years by Reed Exhibitions Brazil. LAAD has never stopped growing and this year is no exception. The 2007 show includes Aviation Expo Latin America, the first exhibition ever held in Brazil covering civil and commercial aviation, helicopters and airports. At 27, 500 square metres, LAAD will be larger than ever and will house some 320 exhibitors from 30 countries. LAAD focuses on the three armed services and the defence industry. It offers outstanding opportunities for the military sector in many countries and brings together their top-tier authorities. For the first time this year 30 Brazilian delegates will take part, benefitting from an expansion of the official delegations programme, which brought 195 delegates to the previous edition. Another innovation is a defence seminar to be held concurrently with the exhibition on such topics as "Brazilian Air Forces: Needs and Prospects", "Air Space Protection", "Legal Aspects of Bidding Procedures and Competition", "Defence Industry Status and Outlook" and "Homeland Security". The event also includes the 3rd International Symposium on Military Logistics, which will discuss military transport for NATO countries and quality assurance in defence, among other subjects. Exhibitors at LAAD 2007 include Brazilian companies such as Embraer and Taurus (which is exhibiting for the first time), and foreign companies such as Boeing from the U.S., Sukhoi from Russia and Dassault from France. GIFAS, the French aerospace industry association, has also confirmed its presence at the show. Israel, Iran, Germany, the U.S. and South Africa, among others, will have their own country pavilions, each featuring several companies that are active in the aerospace and defence industries. Another important part of LAAD is dedicated to 4x4 vehicles, with well-known manufacturers such as Land Rover, Troller and Agrale all presenting new products this year. Brazil accounts for roughly half of Latin America's air traffic and for a quarter of the commercial aviation segment alone. Given this leadership nothing could be more natural than holding a major trade show such as Aviation Expo Latin America 07 on Brazilian soil. Supported by ANAC, Brazil's national civil aviation agency, the event will assemble players from one of the world's largest regional markets: Latin America has 170 airlines, more than 30 of them Brazilian, and almost 1, 500 aircraft — the number reaches 20, 000 if air taxis and private aircraft are included. Latin America has more than 570 airports, over 100 of which are located in Brazil. More than 2, 000 people are expected to attend Aviation Expo, a strictly business event. LAAD will be attended by 1, 400 professionals as well as official delegations from 40 countries. Aviation Expo is specifically tailored to the interests of airline executives, engineers and other aviation and airport industry professionals, as well as aircraft owners and investors. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
