Taipei International Furniture Show 2007

The 2007 Taipei International Furniture Show 2007 (TiFS) kicks off on March 3 at Taipei World Trade Center. Jointly organized by TAITRA and the Taiwan Furniture Manufacturers' Association (TFMA), the five-day furniture extravaganza has drawn 226 exhibitors from Taiwan and around the world that are using 1, 083 booths to profile the atest trends in the industry. TiFS 2007 features eleven theme exhibition areas, including "Green Furniture, " "Boutique Furniture, " "Indoor home furnishings, " "Office Furnishings, " "Outdoor Furniture.

One of the highlights of TIFS 2007 is the "Green Furniture" exhibition area which showcases environmentally-friendly furniture made from innovative materials, readily renewable resources, or materials that are partly or fully recycled. Highlighting the theme concept LOHAS (Life of Health and Sustainability), nine globally recognized furniture companies including Island Woods Green Plus Int'l co., Ltd. have joined hands in showcasing quality furnishings that are both eco-friendly and eco-chic. Come and see how Taiwan furniture manufacturers use sustainable construction methods and renewable resources from Taiwan, the USA, and Europe to make eco-certified furniture at reasonable prices.

Another show feature is the Designer Area that showcases designs by the most influential local furniture designers from different generations. In addition to displaying award-winning local furniture designs since the 90s, this theme area also stages a wide range of original furniture designs that highlight Taiwan's pioneering strengths in applying innovative materials and cutting-edge technology.

The trend in applying new designs and materials can be seen at the "International Exhibitor Area" that features high-end and innovative office furnishings by three industry heavyweights who attend TIFS for the first time: Herman Miller from the US, Grahl from Germany, and Interstuhl from Europe. Visitors will marvel at the wide variety of office furnishings designed to enhance user safety and comfort. Local companies like Camel King, the sole agent for Interstuhl products in Taiwan, also present a wide selection of ergonomic office furnishings such as ergonomically designed office chairs with rotating armrests and the famous E-101 featuring adjustable seatback.

Giving depth to TIFS 2007 is the comprehensive array of international events such as opening reception and many interactive workshops. The workshop of the 2006 event featured celebrity designer Vladimir Kagan as its keynote speaker and received rave reviews. Building on last year's success come the 2007 workshops that include such industry-related topics as "How Furniture Branding Makes Products Special to the Market-Take Herman Miller as an Example." and "The Esthetic of Furniture and Space", to name just a couple. Seats are limited, so be sure to reserve a place soon.

Among the event highlights at TIFS 2007 will be the Furniture Design Competition & Exhibition that showcases the ingenuity of and award-winning entries by local and international designers. This year's competition has drawn 37 entrants and winners will be selected and announced during the opening press conference.
